Fall Baker Lofts Wedding in Holland

In late November, when most of Michigan has settled into quiet tones of gray, the leaves lingered in Holland and color still danced across the trees. The air was crisp, the kind that asks you to lean in a little closer to each other.

Brooke and Jon began their day with a first look—one of those moments that gently shifts everything. I watched as the nerves softened, as laughter replaced anticipation, as they settled into one another. It’s why I love first looks so much—not just for the photographs, but for the way they give couples the gift of presence. From that point on, they moved through the day side by side, fully there for each moment.

What struck me most, though, were the relationships surrounding them. These weren’t just friends—they were the kind of people who know your stories by heart, who speak in inside jokes and shared memories, who feel more like family than anything else. There was an ease to it all, a depth that you could feel in every interaction. And somehow, so quickly, I felt welcomed into that space too—like I wasn’t just observing it, but gently folded into it. And truly, that’s what the entire day felt like—being invited not just to witness, but to belong.

As the night drew to a close, I found myself taking one last look around the room—the glow of the space, the hum of conversation, the kind of laughter that lingers. I breathed it in, quietly thankful.

This is what it’s all about.

Special thanks to Rachel of Rachel Kaye Photography —one of my people—for coming alongside me and serving so thoughtfully throughout the day. Having her there is always a gift!
